"Welcome to Acting" Workshop

This November, Dan Kozloff will teach a three-day workshop on BASIC ACTING SKILLS. This will be appropriate both to complete beginners and to experienced actors who wish to refresh their technique or learn an alternative approach to their craft. Dan uses a step-by-step method and very clear concepts to teach actors how to translate words on a page into convincingly real and entertainingly expressive behavior. Dan's last workshop led directly to new actors being cast in plays for MTC and Gloriana earlier this year.

The workshop will be held at MTC's rehearsal room in the Mendocino Recreation Center on School Street. The dates are Saturday, November 6, Sunday, November 7 and Saturday, November 13, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and 1:00-4:00 p.m. No preparation is necessary for the first weekend.

The workshop is limited to 18 participants. A waiting list will be taken as needed. There is a fee of $25 total to cover costs, which can be waived in cases of need. Students should not sign up unless they can attend all three sessions.

To register or to ask questions about registration, call the MTC Business Office at 937-2718 or email mtc@mcn.org. For questions about the content of the class, call Dan at 964-7316.

Original fingerstyle 6- and 12-string guitar music
Saturday, September 11 · 3:00 p.m.

Teja Gerken

Born in Germany in 1970, Teja Gerken started playing the guitar at age six and became a serious student of the instrument after moving to California in the 1980s. An active participant in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area acoustic music scene, he is a regular performer at many of the region’s venues.

The music review website Listen.com said about his debut album, On My Way: “…this exceptional musician combines elements of folk, jazz, bluegrass and just about any style you can think of, into his seamless, lightning speed guitar workouts.” Gerken is on the editorial staff of Acoustic Guitar magazine, and has co-authored several books about guitars.
